Blue Light Partnership

Edgecumbe College/Blue Light

We’re so proud to be announcing a new one-of-a-kind partnership with Blue Light New Zealand. It is going to offer our students huge opportunities and a chance to really gain some traction on the ladder that is ‘preparing for life’.

This partnership will allow our students places on life skills camps, training opportunities, a chance to build up their CVs and skill toolkit, to give them the confidence and skills to level up into careers, gain their drivers license – an essential for having a job in a rural community – all without barriers and cost.

NZBL and Edgecumbe College will work together throughout 2021 to enhance, develop and provide on an ongoing basis:

  • Blue Edge programme for 2 terms each year
  • Driver licensing from learners to full licence for every young person over 16 at Edgecumbe College
  • An annual year 9 Learning support camp for up to 18 students from Te Hāpai ō –
  • Foster the opportunities for Edgecumbe College students to volunteer throughout their community but also through the wider Blue Light community for volunteering
  • Life skills and leadership camps for senior students.
  • Leadership camp in November – Whenuapai – year 10
  • BLAST training for all year 9/10 students
  • Duke of Edinburgh supported and delivered in the College

We had a wonderful signing of our Blue Light – Edgecumbe College Memorandum of Understanding with a host of possibilities now available for all of our students. A huge thank you to Blue Light CEO Rod Bell and his team for helping set up this amazing partnership.

A large number of our students signed up for the Duke of Edinburgh scheme and also the leadership camp in November. If your child wants to take part in either of these activities without cost please encourage them to sign up, or email Mr. Jackson to put them on the list.
